The majority of our ingredients are sourced within the Hawke’s Bay. Those ingredients not grown here and sourced as locally as possible within New Zealand. Some of our dried spices are purchased from overseas as they are not grown in New Zealand
When babies start solids their sensitive guts are still developing and they are less able to deal with the pesticide residues found on conventional fruits and vegetables than adults are.
NO WAY! We don’t add sugar, salt or any flavouring to our products. The sugar listed on the Nutritional Information Panel is the natural sugar contained in the fruits and vegetables used in that product.
NO WAY! We don’t use any preservatives, fillers or artificial anything in any of our baby food products. We only use premium quality organic meat, vegetables and fruit with a little bit of purified water. We have included the percentage amounts on the ingredients lists of all our purees.
No. We want to support you to help your little ones develop a love of veges and savoury foods so only our fruit purees contain fruit.
Our fresh purees contain 245 grams of puree. This is about 3-4 servings, depending on the age of your child and how hungry they are. This may be two servings for a toddler or five for a young baby. Our frozen pouches contain frozen cubs of 65 grams.
We recommend thinning the puree with cooled boiled water, bone broth, breast milk or formula.
Our fresh baby food products need to be refrigerated to ensure they remain safe to eat and consumed before the best before date. Our frozen products should be kept in the freezer and defrosted in the fridge overnight or in the microwave/on a stove top. Please see the instructions of the label for storage, shelf-life and serving of our products.
Our fresh products have a shelf-life of two weeks and our frozen products have a shelf-life of 12 months. You will find the best before date on the product label.
It takes a baby on average 10-15 tries before they accept a new flavour so if they reject a new flavour, keep on trying. Alternatively, pop any uneaten puree into little containers or ice cube trays and into the freezer to try again in a few weeks time.
We do not recommend that you freeze our jars as they are not freezer safe and you do so at your own risk. We recommend popping some puree into the freezer in freezer safe containers or ice cube trays if you do not intend on using it immediately.
Yes, all our fresh and frozen baby food products are gluten and dairy free.
Yes, the majority of our products are suitable for vegan diets as only two of our purees contain meat. We are working away behind the scenes to release a plant-based protein and vege puree in 2021.
If you don’t want to reuse the empty glass jars yourself (they are great for holding sauces, spices and all sorts of bits and bobs), please place them in your kerbside recycling. Or alternatively, contact us at steph@littlepotofgold.co.nz and we will arrange for them to be sent back to us. We love nothing better than reusing our jars!
While all care is taken to prevent contamination of our products from allergenic foods, our products are produced in the same facility as allergenic foods. We do not recommend feeding our products to children with allergies and you choose to purchase them at your own risk.
